There are a number of ways of getting digital TV here in UK, in preparation for the analogue TV switch off that starts next year. Cable and Satellite TV here in the UK costs money over and above your licence fee ion(which everybody must pay if they want to watch TV. Terrestrial (i.e. through a TV aerial) is how the majority of the population get their TV service.
