{"id":207,"date":"2005-10-27T00:00:08","date_gmt":"2005-10-27T07:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/blogs\/node\/1228"},"modified":"2005-10-27T00:00:08","modified_gmt":"2005-10-27T07:00:08","slug":"choosing-hardware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planet.mcb.guru\/?p=207","title":{"rendered":"Choosing hardware"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I mentioned in my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/blogs\/node\/1224\">post yesterday<\/a>, I'm in the process of consolidating my machines down further into a a number of smaller, but more powerful units. <\/p>\n<p>Obviously I'll be using technology like <a href=\"http:\/\/vmware.com\">VMware<\/a> to add some much needed virtualization, and I'll probably look into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cl.cam.ac.uk\/Research\/SRG\/netos\/xen\/\">Xen<\/a> as a way of compartmentalizing my machine into a number of servers, probably using <a href=\"http:\/\/gentoo.org\">Gentoo<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Before I even get this far though, I need to find and choose the machines that will be my new server pair. That's proving more difficult.
